Parent-Friendly Culture is an accessibility strategy that explores the possibilities of a more inclusive environment for parents and children and creates a space for intergenerational exchange.
What happens to our audiences in the performing arts and to many artists when they become parents and caregivers? How do they experience being excluded from participation in cultural events and what can we do to invite them back? We can learn a lot from parent-friendly environments about how our society is organized, who is valued and who tends to be overlooked. From the perspective of a culture that embraces and includes parents, we want to land on a growth-friendly ground – knowing that caring for care-bearing people is not just about them, but about all of us. When was the last time we listened to the voices of artists and audiences with caring responsibilities in the performing arts – and what could they tell us about our cultural landscapes if we give them space?
Parent-Friendly Culture, a one-day symposium, is an invitation to learn from each other and to celebrate togetherness in an intergenerational space.
FOR WHOM?
The symposium is aimed at cultural professionals, accessibility experts, carers who have lost access to culture and anyone who wants to discover the potential of multi-generational spaces.
WHAT?
The program includes the intergenerational performance Seeing the Invisible (Marika Smerkova – Studio ALTA), a workshop and co-learning space that makes the many years of research by Studio ALTA and Ag Dance and Parenthood accessible, as well as informal exchange to further develop common ideas. Finally, we will dance and celebrate together. Snacks will be provided.
WHO?
The symposium is organized by Ag Tanz und Elternschaft in cooperation with Studio ALTA (Prague) with the support of Flutgraben e.V. and the German-Czech Future Fund. Admission is free, donations are welcome.
The event takes place on the 2nd floor and is barrier-free accessible. Parking space for baby carriages is available.
