Following on from this, Felicitas Zeeden (program director at Tanzfabrik) will provide insights into the collaboration with Ag Tanz und Elternschaft to date, followed by an open discussion about formats already implemented at Berlin dance venues, demands on politicians, and visions for the future.

PETR DLOUHÝ is a Prague-based curator, researcher, and producer working in the independent performing arts sector. Since 2017, Petr has worked for and with various institutions both in the Czech Republic and internationally: programming year-long programs, special focus formats, and festivals. MARIKA SMREKOVÁ is a Slovak artist living in Prague, director, dramaturge and performer. She studied theatre directing at the JAMU in Brno, where she is currently finishing her PhD studies. In her dissertation, she reflects on her artistic research on participatory forms of performance art within the framework of the UM Community Festival in Stará Ľubovňa, which she organized and curated for ten years (2012-2021). https://secondaryarchive.org/artists/marika-smrekova/

Within a short workshop, Petr Dlouhý (Studio ALTA curator) & Marika Smreková (OnMobilisation artist) will navigate the participants through the landscapes of their research. They will share their perspectives on the need to consider accessibility tools for parents, practical hints on how to break the barrier that prevents many parents from being part of cultural events and address the benefits of holding spaces for adults, kids, parents and non-parents.

Parent-Friendly Culture is an initiative that collects knowledge and practices strategies of creating a more inclusive environment of cultural institutions for parents and children. Departing from a self-transformation process undertaken by Prague-based production house Studio ALTA, we went on a journey to understand how we need to change from the inside to be more open to the outside. We started by asking ourselves questions: Where did all the people, who once had been an integral part of our audience, disappear after they became parents? Is there any way to bring them back? What do we need to do in order to make it possible for them to be part of our audience community again? What are the barriers of our institution that prevent some people from entering? And what does it have to do with the whole society and the general narratives that are woven into the way how we organize ourselves in the arts?
